ramadan bazaars

Ramadhan, the holy month of fasting for the Muslims is just around the corner. Though the fasting is only observed by the Muslim community, but the joys that come with it is enjoyed by all Malaysians, ex-pats and tourists alike. The best part about the Ramadhan month is the Ramadhan food bazaar or commonly known as the Pasar Ramadhan. This food bazaar offers a wide range of local, particularly Malay cuisines, snacks and desserts. The variety and options of the food sold in these bazaars are endless and will leave you wanting for more. One of the best places for Pasar Ramadhan is none other than the beautiful Penang Island which is famous for its ‘food haven’ title.

The most common and signature food found in Pasar Ramadhan are satay, keropok lekor, nasi ulam and a big selection of traditional Malay cakes (kuih) like kuih lapis and onde-onde. This year’s commencement of the Ramadhan month falls on 27 May 2017. Don’t know where to look for the largest Pasar Ramadhan around Penang? Fear not, as we have just the right guide for you.
